Despite promises that voting would start at 8 AM on Saturday, officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have not yet arrived at polling units in Awka as of 8:30 AM.

A visit to the Agu Awka polling units 008 and 022 at Aroma Junction, located just a few meters from the INEC headquarters, revealed that officials had still not arrived.

An accredited observer from JDPC, a non-governmental organization affiliated with the Catholic Church, Mr. Charles Kwentoh, expressed his disappointment at the delay, despite earlier assurances of starting by 8 AM.
