Remember Ndlovu Youth Choir? The South African group reached the Top 10 of AGT Season 14. Now they’re helping to spread important messages about staying safe in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

The choir has posted videos to social media in which they dance and sing about the important precautions we should all be taking to prevent the spread of the virus. Check them out below.

Ndlovu Youth Choir Demonstrates Elbow Greetings

This week, the Ndlovu Youth Choir posted a video to their Instagram account demonstrating a method of greeting suggested by South African president Cyril Ramaphosa.

“We must minimize physical contact with other people and encourage the elbow greeting rather,” the president said in a speech, which the choir included in their video.

In the clip, the group wears colorful clothing and demonstrates the suggested greeting by touching their elbows together rather than shaking hands. “Together we will rise and ‘Shaya’ (beat) Coronavirus,” they wrote in the caption.

‘AGT’ Ndlovu Youth Choir Sings About Washing Your Hands

The elbow greeting video isn’t the only way the choir is spreading important coronavirus advice. Last week, they posted a video in which members sing, in English and Zulu, about the importance of washing your hands and not touching your face.

“Wash your hands thoroughly, don’t panic, don’t spread rumors,” they sing. “We will beat corona.” While singing, the group also performs a choreographed dance routine.

Videos like these, which make important messages fun and catchy, can be a great tool for spreading information. Young people especially might be more inclined to pay attention to a song-and-dance video than an official speech. We’re glad to see Ndlovu Youth Choir doing their part to slow the spread of the virus.
