The Bureau of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank and the Republic of Congo have commended the high-level panel for its independent review report of AfDB’s ethics committee report on Dr Akinwumi Adesina.
The bureau gave the commendation on Wednesday in a statement entitled ‘Communique of the Bureau of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group on the report of the high-level panel for the independent review of the report of the ethics committee of the boards of directors of the bank group on the whistleblower complaint against the president of the bank group.’
In the statement signed by the Chairperson of the bureau, Ms Niale Kaba, the bureau commended the panel for working tirelessly to ensure timely submission of its report.
She said the bureau also noted the panel’s conclusion regarding the submission of the president to the ethics committee, adding, “It has considered the president’s submission on their face and finds them consistent with his innocence and to be persuasive.”
In a letter signed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Congo and Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in the United states of America, Serge Mombouli, Congo commended the panel and congratulated Adesina.
The letter read, “On behalf of the African diplomatic corps, his excellency Serge Mombouli warmly thanks the panel led by Mary Robinson for their excellent work; congratulates Dr Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank Group, and commends him for his visionary leadership and the outstanding development results attained by the bank under his tenure.”
Adesina was on Tuesday completely exonerated of any ethical wrongdoings.
