The member representing Mayo-Belwa Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Musa Kallamu, has perfected plans to raise consciousness for science courses among students of his constituency.
Emphasizing the need for students to take to science for their own good and the good of society, Kallamu told newsmen at the State Assembly Complex in Yola that the low number of students pursuing science-related courses is a concern to him.
“There is urgent need to encourage interest in science for the development and future progress of Mayo-Belwa,”; he asserted.
To address the challenge in his own way, Kallamu spoke of a committee on educational interventions which he said has already been established.
He said the committee would be guiding and counseling students at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels to foster stronger interest in science.
The lawmaker disclosed that intellectuals and education experts were selected to form the intervention committee which would implement several educational programs, including inter-primary school quiz competitions, coaching classes, and other initiatives aimed at improving learning outcomes in Mayo-Belwa.
Kallamu also said he is working to revive the former Mayo-Belwa Integrated Youths Development Association (MIYODA), which previously focused on mentoring students to enhance academic performance.
