100 years Bauhaus, Germany
Architecture fans may rejoice. The Bauhaus celebrates a jubilee, the seminal powerhouse of a modern design language in architecture and design. At the three former Bauhaus locations, ie in Weimar, Dessau and Berlin, large exhibitions are held, in Weimar and Dessau even new museums open. In total, more than 660 events are planned in more than 350 locations across Germany.
While elsewhere in Europe, Carnival drives out the winter, that brings in the color yellow in Menton. At the Fête du Citron, the gardens of the city are adorned with sculptures of citrus fruits. Every year under a different motto. Floating cars roam the streets, there is a lot of music and dancing. If there are no spring feelings! The festival will run from 16 February to 3 March.
Matera in southern Italy – a labyrinthine sea of tuff houses. A radiant beauty, 7000 years old. Matera is one of the oldest cities in the world. Unique are the cave settlements ceded to the mountain, the Sassi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2019, Matera wears the title “European Capital of Culture” and celebrates it with a full cultural program.
